Our Jelly Bread

Imagine a little boy, by his bedside with his head bowed, eyes closed, and hands folded to pray.  He recites with his mother, the Lord's prayer: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our jelly bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  Amen. Our jelly bread. Cute! Well, bread is better with jelly!  And you know what?  Recently, in our waiting and waiting to get our son through international adoption, the Lord has been teaching me to look for the jelly on my daily bread.  Among this trial and tough time in our lives I learn more each day about God's love for me, my family in my home, our little boy overseas, and for all believers whom He loves. We stand on His promises and His faithfulness never waiv...

One Year Later...

The one year mark has come.  One year has past since the day when we got the phone call for that would match us with a little 10 month old baby boy who needed a family.  We said 'YES' and the rest is in the Lord's story of bringing this little fellow to his new home.  Here's the story from one year ago click here . On July 17, 2014 we were visiting friends in South Carolina when we got the phone call.  I'll always remember that special day and how we as a family, gathered around the computer to get our first glimpse of precious Tarik's face. Now one year later, we aren't where we'd ever thought we would be...still waiting.  It's difficult every day to wait for another very special phone call to tell us that our court date has been chosen and we can finally travel to Ethiopia to visit our 22month old son and call him our own. Please be in prayer for us, and specifically for the courts to find favor on our case and pass it through to give our t...

Adoption Shower

Update: We are still on pins and needles waiting for the news to be announced from our court case that was reviewed on July 8th.  All we know is that the court hasn't announced the news yet, so we wait to hear.  Our bags our packed and we are ready to roll.  Keep praying for the courts to approve our case, if the decision hasn't already been made. It was great to take our mind off the anticipation and spend time celebrating the soon coming arrival of little Tarik.  Tarik is now 22 months old.  My mom and sister held a baby shower for me this weekend and I really enjoyed the time devoted to welcoming special Tarik into our family! The game for the shower was to have the guests make their own paper airplanes then see who could fly their airplane the farthest.  Hoping to fly soon! The cupcakes were made from our dear friend, Marci, who also was the friend who started us out on our adoption fundraising journey with our Valentine's Cupcake sale in 2013. ...

Breakthrough Date

There's going to be a breakthrough! PRAYERS TONIGHT! Wow, this journey has been long and we are t.i.r.e.d.  I'm not going to sugar coat it - it's hard. Financial hurtles, emotional twists, unknown turns, and spiritual battle bumps in the road make this one incredible ride. We are ready for a breakthrough! At this point we are praying deeply for our Father God to watch over Tarik while we wait.  We are praying for a very important court date on our JULY 7th evening and JULY 8th over there in Ethiopia .  At this point our case is being reviewed for the second time for approval from all parties. After the first review, on May 29th, one updated signature was requested.  This has been done and turned in, so now we see if we are granted approval.  When we are, we will be given our court date and travel dates!!! When you spend your time reading the living Word today, please remember to lift us up in your prayers as we join together to ask God's will to cont...
