One Sought Me

This Fall 2015, One Sought Me and friends were able to organize and lead a community event fundraiser for another local adoptive family. It was a Fall Festival themed indoor event with games, pumpkin designing, face painting, scarecrow stuffing, petting zoo, food, baked goods, raffle baskets, dance company performance, and live music special singer.  The event also featured 3 sections that were themed with each of the countries from which One Sought Me has been blessed to help in different families' adoption journeys around the globe!  Ethiopia , China , and India each had a craft and activity tent set up with crafts that represented the beautiful cultures. In 2013 we held an outdoor fundraiser with a walk around a local park, games, speakers, music, raffle baskets, etc. and were blessed with the support in prayer and financially to help us raise funds for our adoption to Ethiopia. God is so good!!! Let me tell you a story... We are continuing to raise funds for the adoption as several costs have tumbled in during this extended process for us.  What once was proposed as a 12-18 month journey to adopt has turned into 2.5 years and counting. Updated paper work, fingerprints again, new appointments, mailing documents, etc. Each month we support Tarik's care while he is in the foster home of $350 a month.  With the latest movements in our process too, we have fees associated with those costs that are  $650.  It all is adding up as one month runs into another past our anticipated funds. ( See our 2014 Fundraising Report here .   And our latest needs here. ) Just as I sit down and start to wonder how tight are things going to get, I get an email that another necklace order needs filled. Recently, I came across some Scripture that really reminded me of how pleasing it is to the Lord when we, as His people, help each other, help those in need, and bring help to the poor.  We will look at those in a moment, but as I read, I was reminded of all the giving and generous hearts who have deeply helped our family, other adoptive families, and this support for adoptive families is focused on helping the orphaned child, the oppressed, poor, and lonely.  For this, for helping the 'least of these', God is well pleased.  He sees a giving heart as an offering! Happy NEW YEAR!! We are very hopeful this year that this is actually THE year that we will meet our little guy and join him officially into our family! Praying, hoping, and trusting, but things are going well so far. Check in here. Just taking one more step forward is a huge PRAISE! Thank you for your continued prayers! From the end of last year, if you remember, the foster home where our little one is staying had a Measles outbreak.   Read about it here . The children were having a difficult time with respiratory infections and complications with pneumonia and the Measles.  Many children were sick, over a dozen were hospitalized, and to my knowledge, there were 3 children who died.  A very, very sad situation and please be in prayer for those adoptive families faced with this difficult news. Hi friends and prayer warriors!  I am launching this quick post to ask for you help.  As many of you know, the foster home in Ethiopia, where our little boy calls home, is experiencing an outbreak of the Measles.  As far as we know, Tarik, is well and recovering from two recent bouts of Pneumonia.  We continue to pray for his health and strength, and thank you for your prayers! Several of the children from the foster home have been admitted to hospitals there in Ethiopia. Please be praying for these little ones as they are experiencing respiratory complications from pneumonia and/or the Measles.  Some cases are very serious and 'touch and go.'  It breaks a mama's heart to know your little one is alone in a hospital half-way across the globe. We are thankful to Dr. W. for donating this box of toothbrushes for us to take to the foster home in Ethiopia!  Dr. W. is friend of ours, a talented dentist, and of course our family dentist.  He was kind enough to donate! Here is little Buggy being so brave!  Big brother was so encouraging to her.  He sat beside her and said, "it's alright, I'm right here."     Here's to clean teeth in Africa!!  

  Thanking the Lord for the awesome day on July 20th at the One Sought Me Walk for Orphan Adoption!  We were praying for 153 people to walk and represent the 153 million orphans world wide! Well, the predicted rain and storms held off, the sun was shining with a cool breeze to keep the bugs at bay, and over 153 people registered to join us this day!  Take a look! Thanking all those who came out, praying that you were blessed and enjoyed the event. Thanks to those who donated and prayed for the event to go well.  Thanking all our friends who volunteered and helped make this event run so very smoothly. The support of those at the event generously gave and helped us raise near $2,000.00 towards our adoption costs! Praise God!
