One Sought Me

Hi friends and prayer warriors!  I am launching this quick post to ask for you help.  As many of you know, the foster home in Ethiopia, where our little boy calls home, is experiencing an outbreak of the Measles.  As far as we know, Tarik, is well and recovering from two recent bouts of Pneumonia.  We continue to pray for his health and strength, and thank you for your prayers! Several of the children from the foster home have been admitted to hospitals there in Ethiopia. Please be praying for these little ones as they are experiencing respiratory complications from pneumonia and/or the Measles.  Some cases are very serious and 'touch and go.'  It breaks a mama's heart to know your little one is alone in a hospital half-way across the globe. The medicines there are limited with no vaccines for the measles even available.  Our adoption agency is currently doing all they can to help the children.  The foster home is requesting nebulizers as thi...

Today was hilarious.  Just one of those days where it was laugh out loud, or just sink and cry.   I was thinking about Ethiopia so much today that it was coming out my ears!!! No seriously.  (Wearing these earrings today given to me by my friend, Alemitu, for my birthday.) We have been waiting and praying for our next set of treasured paperwork to come to us via Fedex from Ethiopia.  We need these documents in order to continue forward with our adoption process of our little boy.  Until these are received, there is nothing we can do to get closer to bringing him home.  I stalk my FedEx account to see if it has been charged a shipping fee.  Every FedEx truck that we see out and about on the roads we (Ok, it's me.)  scream and say "come to our house!"  The kids get a kick out of it.  THEN TODAY the FedEx Express truck pulls up to our driveway.  I glance at the door with that twinkle of hope that this time (after 5 gazillio...

Please be in prayer! We need some mountains moved!! It's called "Mount Paperwork-more."  We are 9 weeks after referral now and waiting for the 'next step' of paperwork documents to be mailed to us from Ethiopia.  These documents are crucial as we can't move forward until we receive these papers.  Next, they get sent from us to the U.S. Immigration Services to be reviewed as a visa eligibility type of a check, and orphan verification/background clearance. About 3 weeks ago we were expecting these documents to arrive as was our agency.  With many sprints to the door to see if the chimes were that of the Fed Ex man holding a glowing package of treasured documents, our little hearts are tuckered out.  A new week is about to begin and a new list of delivery orders!  With refreshed and ever hopeful hearts, we come to the Father again in prayer asking for mountains to be moved and oceans to soon be crossed so we can give Tarik a family. Today, September 11th, marks the changing to a new year for Ethiopia!  Celebrating as a new year starts fresh with new hope, ambitious plans, and changing of seasons from the end of the rainy season to a season of new growth. Ethiopia follows a 13 month calendar and so it's actually the year 2007 in Ethiopia today! Enkutatash  is the word for the Ethiopian  new year  in  Amharic , the official language of Ethiopia.  It has also been associated traditionally with the return of the  Queen of Sheba  to Ethiopia following her visit to  King Solomon   Jerusalem  in ca. 980 BC.   Enkutatash   means “gift of jewels.” The story goes back almost 3,000 years to the  Queen of Sheba  of ancient Ethiopia who was returning from a trip to visit King Solomon of Israel in Jerusalem, as found in the Bible in I Kings 10 and II Chronicles 9. Thanking the Lord for weekly updates of our little one and for his healthy reports!  Our week 5 update photos showed us our first look at his smile!  Just look at those cheeks!  And little toothers. Oh. so. dear.  There are many times that I find myself just in awe of God's work and all that He has and is doing to guide this little boy to our family.  The smile of my heart just brings me to tears when I think of all the Lord orchestrates for this adoption.  Absolutely a miracle.  Psalm 68:6 says, "God places the lonely in families...." and I believe it with a clearer understanding as His plan unfolds in our lives and in the life of this special baby boy.   There are more smiles on the way, so please praise the Lord with us as we are so grateful!  Please continue to pray for this process to unfold in God's timing.  Pray for Tarik and his heart to be prepared to join our family, that his eyes will be prepared to first me...

These little toes belong to a very special little boy!!  We are all so excited when we get our weekly update photos of Tarik.  Tonight we were at the park when the e-mail came through.  Todd and I looked at our handsome little guy and soak in every little bit of him and his surroundings.  Then the kids came over and squealed with happiness to see their little bro.  Praise the Lord for a healthy report this week!  This week we put up the crib!  As you can see, the kids helped out as Todd assembled the crib, once again. This crib has been used for all the children and here it goes up a fifth time!  We haven't quite narrowed down the nursery 'theme' or anything yet, but I just wanted to put the crib up already!  It definitely makes the news of  "a baby is coming" seem more real.   One month has past since our first news of little Tarik.  We are happy for the communication that we have with our agency, and grate...
