Week 18 and 19 waiting: The Process

Here we go again! A N O T H E R week is going by and we are waiting and waiting for our referral of two little precious children being added to our family through adoption!!
What does that really  mean?  Well, anytime, any day now, we could get "the call" that will be our agency telling us that two little orphan kiddos (siblings, and ages 0-5 years) have been cleared through the Ethiopian processes to be matched with a forever family.  It's exciting, and it's hard to wait, but we know that God is in control and He is never late.  His timing is perfect.

So what about this waiting stage???  Seems like nothing "exciting" is really going on when we are sitting around doing nothing but waiting.  But that perspective is only our impatience speaking.  In reality, and in God's perspective, there are many exciting and miraculous things going on in our adoption process- it just happens to be things we do not see or know about yet.  If I evaluate myself more deeply, it's not just my impatience speaking, it's actually my selfishness speaking!  Ouch.  Harsh, but true.  If I fully and completely wanted God's way and not my own, then I'd rest in complete peace with this waiting.  (some days are easier than others!!)

Let's look at an example in the Bible (1 Samuel 24).  What about David and Saul?  If you recall, Saul was the first King of Israel chosen by the Lord through Samuel, but David was also anointed to be next in command.  Saul's jealousy and anger toward David grew to the point that Saul wanted David killed and thus had David hunted by many soldiers.  David fled to the caves to escape the dangers that surrounded him.

One day Saul and his men (near 3,000 of them), where told to come to the wilderness among the rocks to look for David. Saul ended up in the particular cave where David had been hiding.  Saul stopped to "relieve himself" and David had an opportunity to kill Saul.  David would then become king and all his days of running and hiding would be through!  I mean, the Lord did appoint David to be king anyway, so why not NOW?

Even though David had the option to take matters into his own hands, set his own timing on becoming king, and move ahead the plans of his predestined future, he did not.  David still waited on the timing of the Lord.  The Lord would set David at the throne when all God's plans allowed David to be on the throne. Not just because David set his own schedule.  David reverenced the Lord and heeded to His will.  Saul was not murdered that day and David showed his submission to the Lord's timing concerning the next exciting stage of his life- to become the king of Israel.

In this story, David shows us an example of patience, and trusting that in the process the Lord is in control.  This waiting time for David was difficult.  Hiding in caves, dodging the enemy of whose son was his best friend, and Saul was actually David's father-in-law!  Talk about family drama.  Waiting isn't easy.  But knowing that the end result is a final, complete, and perfect work of the Lord- well, to believe in that makes the wait a bit more tolerable!

Psalm 46:10 "Be still and KNOW that I am God."

Week 18 verse: "When I pray, you answer me, and encourage me by giving me the strength I need." Psalms 138:3

Week 19 verse: "Ask me and I will tell you some remarkable secrets about what is going to happen here." Jeremiah 33:3

Thank you for your prayers being lifted up for our family and our future children!  We know He hears every word coming from our hearts and He is at work to bringing the children home to us.

Airplane Tray Table Cover for Travel!

In my part of the world, the popular sport of choice for this season is sewing.  Sewing?  Yes, well, it's a winter sport for me with its challenges, obstacles, and skills to be improved upon!  Not to mention that it hasn't been above 10 degrees Fahrenheit for near a month and with wind chills at -25 to -40 tonight, one just has to stay inside in the comfy cozy walls of home! Out comes the sewing machine and projects left behind from seasons past.  This time, I decided to tackle a new project that will be put to good use in the future: an Airplane Tray Table Cover for future traveling!  Thinking of sunny Ethiopia just brightens the mood from the winter blues too! After searching the web, and viewing images of other "airplane tray table covers" (search it, you'll find them), I decided to create my own.  This is pic is of my first attempt.  Overall, it turned out fine and I am happy with the end result.  To give you an idea, this would slip over...

Details, Details, and What Can We Do?

It's a girl!  Thank you for the excitement and prayers of joy for us as we announced our next adoption! We have kept our finger on the pulse in the adoption world since bringing home our son, and all I can contribute finding out about this adoption is by the direction of God the Father.  He "places the lonely in families!" - Psalm 68:6  I know that everyone is anxious to know more details, trust me, I know it's part of the excitement to hear the scoop! What I can say is that she is 7 years old and very petite.  She has brown eyes, brown curly hair, and beautiful brown skin.  Her smile is contagious and her eyes show that she is spunky inside of that tiny frame.  She loves to laugh and eat pie! What I can't say is all of her story.  It's very complicated, emotionally complex, broken. And at her age of understanding all that is going on around her, well, it's her story and we want to respect that privacy for her.  While this is a time of joy...
