It's hard to believe that our baby is turning 4! When we started this adoption process he was just turning 2 when the Lord placed it on our hearts to expand our family through adoption. Now, most likely, the birth order will remain in our family and the new little ones to join us will be younger than MJ. Praying for news but as we wait we enjoy our family size of 6!
Today we were working together in preparing for MJ's birthday party. MJ is a fun-loving, active boy who loves to laugh and make others laugh. For his age he is very coordinated and plays soccer, dribbles a basketball, and can run all over the Wii U game system!! Above all, even beyond soccer, this little fellow has a strong sweet tooth! He loves sugar anything! So when we were brainstorming party themes we landed on the thought of a candy party. Little bit of searching on pinterest and bam! Here we go Candy Land Party!!
So far we have been making decorations and today we baked the cake. The tie-dyed cake seems to be new and fun, so we all gave it a shot. With all the kids helping things went pretty fast in filling the colored cake batter into ice-cream cones then baking them.
Here's a peek of what we were up to today!
We made this #4 shirt for the birthday boy! Simply tape a number or other design onto a plain colored shirt. Place a piece of cardboard inside the shirt so the spray doesn't soak through to the back side. Use bleach in a spray bottle and spray around the taped design. Remove the tape, wash and dry the shirt! We then traced the 4 with fabric markers to make it stand out a bit more.
Following the directions from the links below, we made these colorful tie-dyed cakes in ice-cream cones! Each of the kids had a bit of cake batter, mixed in the food coloring (about 12 drops), then we took turns all drizzling in the different cake batter colors into the cones. Don't stir them together, just bake for 20 minutest at 350! Right before to the party will stack them high with icing and sprinkles to make the look complete!
More pictures coming on party day so check by in to see how the Vogtman's celebrate a birthday!
