The wife's sister, who lives in Ethiopia, has come to visit here in the states! Yetinighet and her two daughters came in this weekend and will be staying for a little over one month.
We were able to meet them tonight. They brought us all a gift of a traditional Ethiopian outfit. The kids put on their clothes and we enjoyed a coffee ceremony together. Coffee ceremonies are a time to socialize or mark a special event. Yetinighet roasted the coffee beans then prepared them in the traditional pot serving it to us with the coffee set. (you'll see it in the pictures).
The daughters speak very good English as they attend a private school where they are taught primarily in English. Todd and I tried our best Amharic (Ethiopian language) and we got a few giggles, a few "very good," and a few tips on how to pronounce the words.
A blessing to us to have friends to help us feel close to Ethiopia!
As our adoption story unfolds, it can only be God who through miracles will place people, such as these, in our lives. What are the odds that a family from Ethiopia would live in our neighborhood? That's a God thing.
I had know that the sister, Yetinighet, lives in Addis (the capital city of Ethiopia). That is where we will be flying to and staying when we finally get to travel. Well the city is a large place. What are the chances that Yetinighet would know the area where the foster home in located? It's a God thing....she lives near that same suburb.
Reminders for us that God is watching over us, directing us, and setting the way before us! Holding tight to His promises!
