Little Steps and Giant Steps

Welllllll....it's so great to report some good news!!  We can only give thanks to God for His continued hand in all this adoption process and He deserves a shout out:  THANK YOU LORD!

If you have been following our adoption process (and read back in past posts if you are just checking in), we had received one set of documents from Ethiopia after waiting over 5 months for it to come! Then, the US immigration offices requested more documentation.  This time the Ethiopian officials have a time frame of 87 days to reply.  This date is April 10, 2015.  I know that we have been praying and that we have been in  your prayers too!  On Friday, January 30th our agency called with the surprise that they had received the requested documents from Ethiopia!  After only 2 weeks of waiting!  YESSSS!  Praising God for giving us this little paper, and it's a giant step forward!!

Habakkuk 2:3

For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

His timing is perfect! Continue to pray as this set of paperwork is turned in and hopefully approved by US immigration (and praying it is reviewed in a timely manner) who will then pass it on to the next step...US Embassy evaluation, then approval, then interviews of those involved with our child's case, then....ok, so we still have stages to go, but moving along!!   Thank you for praying all along the way!

Airplane Tray Table Cover for Travel!

In my part of the world, the popular sport of choice for this season is sewing.  Sewing?  Yes, well, it's a winter sport for me with its challenges, obstacles, and skills to be improved upon!  Not to mention that it hasn't been above 10 degrees Fahrenheit for near a month and with wind chills at -25 to -40 tonight, one just has to stay inside in the comfy cozy walls of home! Out comes the sewing machine and projects left behind from seasons past.  This time, I decided to tackle a new project that will be put to good use in the future: an Airplane Tray Table Cover for future traveling!  Thinking of sunny Ethiopia just brightens the mood from the winter blues too! After searching the web, and viewing images of other "airplane tray table covers" (search it, you'll find them), I decided to create my own.  This is pic is of my first attempt.  Overall, it turned out fine and I am happy with the end result.  To give you an idea, this would slip over...

Miserly Moms Recipes

After posting some ideas about tips for the family budget, I had many positive responses and am encouraged that many of you will be putting forth an effort to set a food budget and stay within that budget.  Take a visit here to view the previous post. Miserly Moms by Jonni McCoy is an excellent resource for money saving tips, menus, recipes, and family organization.  After looking it up on Amazon, apparently my copy is the "collectable" edition...oh geez, that makes me feel old.  There is a newer edition that Jonni has available in a Kindle version for $7.99 .  Note: Kindles weren't invented yet when I was starting out as a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom)  Ha.ha.laugh.   Here are some highlights from the book (the one made of paper) :   1. Don't Confuse Frugality with Depriving Yourself  2. Remove Little Wasters of Your Money 3. Don't Buy Everything at the Same Store 4. Make Your Own Whenever Possible 5. Eliminate Convenience Foods ...

What? Wait? Family of 8?

We would like to officially announce to you that a very special little person will be joining our family VERY SOON! Surprise!   We are adopting! It's a girl!!  We cannot wait to bring our little girl home, hold her in our arms, and provide her with a safe, healthy, and loving family as she grows.  She is 7 years old and with a complicated past, our newest child needs to come home as soon as possible.  She will need prayers as she adjusts and heals.  We will need prayers for strength, understanding, and God's covering to be over us as we walk beside her.  Please commit this to your daily prayers. Our family has already been busy taking steps of faith and has begun this process.  For the remaining costs of legal fees and travel, we are asking for you gifts to join into this blessing of adoption! When you give financially, you become invested in the ministry of orphan care along with us.  Our fundraising goal is a remaining $13,000 to bring ou...
