Happy Father's Day! 2014

Happy Father's Day!  For all the father's who step up and show unconditional love to their children-  for those who spend their time and energy, talents and skills working with their kids to raise them in a loving home full of acceptance and laughter!  May God bless you and give you strength to carry on each day, each year that your children are under your direct care.  I'm so very thankful for Todd and the daddy that he is to our children.   I could go on and on, but I'd be sure to embarrass him ;).

This Father's Day we are thankful for the many godly fathers we know and love! We also remember to be praying for those who miss their fathers and lack of that father figure in their lives. Whether it be from the death of a loved one, separation and divorce, splintered relationship, or even the surrender of a child to an orphanage- these situations make it hard to push through this day.

One thing is certain and can give us strength and that is looking to our Father in Heaven!  He loves us, pursues us, sought after us, and longs to be near us.  He created us and accepts us for who we are.  Have confidence in knowing this and how much you are loved by the Father of all fathers.

Romans 8:15-17 "we cry abba Father, The spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children...heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ."

Ephesians  1:5 "In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with is pleasure and will."

We are God's children and just as He loves us, we are to love others. Children are precious to the Lord no matter where they are or what circumstance they find themselves under.  None are more worthy of love and care over another, and none are placed more valuable than another just because of where they were born on this globe.  They all deserve and desire love and care from a father, a family.  We are all so precious in His sight!

I pray this Father's Day that we can see a child for who they are, not for where they live, their lifestyle, their economic surroundings, their abilities or lack of, or the color of their skin, but just to see the child that God the Father created and loves very much.

We pray this Father's Day that daddies will be encouraged as their task on this earth is a hefty one!  A father's role is so so important and can be treasured over a lifetime!

We pray this Father's Day for those who are without a father relationship.  We are praying for those with hurtful and difficult relationships with their fathers.  And for the orphans, who with statistics stacked against them, may never even have the chance to know the love of a earthly father.

We pray for our kids in Ethiopia.  That some day soon they will know that a wonderful father is waiting for them, thinking of them, and longs to be with them.

We pray for the missionaries, pastors, teachers, and friends all around the world who share the love of Father God and the hope that He offers us all by being adopted into the family of God through Jesus Christ.

Praise the Lord for fathers!!  Thank God for godly men and daddies who fear the Lord and seek His ways!  Thank God for hope and healing of broken hearts and broken relationships!  Thank God for forgiveness and renewal!  Thank God for bringing us into His family as His children!  Thank God for bringing the lonely to families!

Happy Father's Day!!

Airplane Tray Table Cover for Travel!

In my part of the world, the popular sport of choice for this season is sewing.  Sewing?  Yes, well, it's a winter sport for me with its challenges, obstacles, and skills to be improved upon!  Not to mention that it hasn't been above 10 degrees Fahrenheit for near a month and with wind chills at -25 to -40 tonight, one just has to stay inside in the comfy cozy walls of home! Out comes the sewing machine and projects left behind from seasons past.  This time, I decided to tackle a new project that will be put to good use in the future: an Airplane Tray Table Cover for future traveling!  Thinking of sunny Ethiopia just brightens the mood from the winter blues too! After searching the web, and viewing images of other "airplane tray table covers" (search it, you'll find them), I decided to create my own.  This is pic is of my first attempt.  Overall, it turned out fine and I am happy with the end result.  To give you an idea, this would slip over...

Miserly Moms Recipes

After posting some ideas about tips for the family budget, I had many positive responses and am encouraged that many of you will be putting forth an effort to set a food budget and stay within that budget.  Take a visit here to view the previous post. Miserly Moms by Jonni McCoy is an excellent resource for money saving tips, menus, recipes, and family organization.  After looking it up on Amazon, apparently my copy is the "collectable" edition...oh geez, that makes me feel old.  There is a newer edition that Jonni has available in a Kindle version for $7.99 .  Note: Kindles weren't invented yet when I was starting out as a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom)  Ha.ha.laugh.   Here are some highlights from the book (the one made of paper) :   1. Don't Confuse Frugality with Depriving Yourself  2. Remove Little Wasters of Your Money 3. Don't Buy Everything at the Same Store 4. Make Your Own Whenever Possible 5. Eliminate Convenience Foods ...

Details, Details, and What Can We Do?

It's a girl!  Thank you for the excitement and prayers of joy for us as we announced our next adoption! We have kept our finger on the pulse in the adoption world since bringing home our son, and all I can contribute finding out about this adoption is by the direction of God the Father.  He "places the lonely in families!" - Psalm 68:6  I know that everyone is anxious to know more details, trust me, I know it's part of the excitement to hear the scoop! What I can say is that she is 7 years old and very petite.  She has brown eyes, brown curly hair, and beautiful brown skin.  Her smile is contagious and her eyes show that she is spunky inside of that tiny frame.  She loves to laugh and eat pie! What I can't say is all of her story.  It's very complicated, emotionally complex, broken. And at her age of understanding all that is going on around her, well, it's her story and we want to respect that privacy for her.  While this is a time of joy...
