165 Days of Prayer Day 2

165 Hours of Prayer for the 165 Million Orphans World Wide:

New to the 165 Hour Prayer?  Start here, then see Day 1 and come right back!

Day 2:
I hope that yesterday went well for you to be in thought and prayer for the orphans.  Fresh on your mind and eager to start out this challenge, but don't be discouraged or give up if you had a slow start and a tough day! I know I was getting weak there come the 2 p.m. time so I just ate 'dinner' at 3:30 to call it my 'meal' for the day!  That helped, but it was hard! If the idea of 'one meal a day' is too intense for you, don't give up! And don't feel pressured to keep it up either.  There are no special stickers or prizes here, just the purpose of being mindful in prayer.  Choose something else then that will be a big reminder to you to pray and to be mindful of this as a day of prayer. Remember that the reminders of our weaknesses are also reminders to us that we rely on the Lord to be our strength in life's heavy circumstances.

The Lord knows your heart, He hears your prayers, and He loves you very much!.  So let's gear up for another focused day of prayer!  Read your Bible, get a good rest, and make your one meal count (nutritiously, not over-indulgence)- Be thankful for that meal and remind yourself of the focus of this day of prayer: the care of the orphans and their coming home!

Praise report!  From yesterday, Day 1:  Yesterday our adoption group reported at least 6 adoptive families (that have already been matched with their children) were submitted to the US Embassy for visa processing of bringing their little ones home!!  One more step closer to getting those babies! Thank you Lord for movement in the process!!

Day 2:
165 Million orphaned children, world wide...... that number baffles me.  To think of that many little faces, little people, little eyes searching for hope.....it's overwhelming, but not an excuse to remove it from our minds.  Sometimes the troubles of this world seem so overwhelming that we just ignore them completely and bury ourselves into any peace and comfort that does exist in our lives.  There is only one solution that we can put our trust in and focus on, and that is the love of Jesus.

You see, even if all the children in this world were rescued, cared for, or adopted into loving homes, there still would be a need greater than this to be fulfilled, and that's for their hearts-their souls.  The love that Jesus our Savior has to offer us and the hope that He gives us will rescue us from the bondage of all the evils on this earth, all the sadness, war, lost, hungry, and hurting.  But Jesus offers us instead a future of promise, hope, love, and eternal refuge with Him in His Kingdom of Heaven after the trials of this life.

Where we are on this earth our stomachs can be filled, our homes can be warm, our children can be given a quality education, gifts, love, and an enjoyable life, but in the light of eternity, these things will quickly fade.

Scripture:
"For my father and mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in."  Psalm 27:10

John 6:35 "Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."

Isaiah 40:6-8 "Shout that man is like the grass that dies away, and all his beauty faces like dying flowers.  The grass withers, the flower fades beneath the breath of God.  And so it is with fragile man.  The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the Word of our God shall stand forever."

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

Prayer:
Praise: For our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the gift that He has offered to us of eternal life beyond the life on this earth.  For His love that never runs out!  For Him hearing our every prayer!  For Him watching over us all, including the lost and the lonely.

Pray: Today, pray for the souls of the lost, the hearts of the children who have no reason to hope from what this life offers them.  No hope in the arrival of their next meal, no hope that they will ever have a family, no chance of an education, or in their future here on this earth, but pray that they would come to know the hope and peace that Jesus has to offer them in life beyond this world.

Pray: For the Lord to search your heart and show you what you may be too heavily relying on that is of this world.  Too heavily leaning your trust in things that will pass away and fade away, instead of  putting your trust in the promises of HIS love and power.

Psalm 139:23  "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts.  Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life."

Airplane Tray Table Cover for Travel!

In my part of the world, the popular sport of choice for this season is sewing.  Sewing?  Yes, well, it's a winter sport for me with its challenges, obstacles, and skills to be improved upon!  Not to mention that it hasn't been above 10 degrees Fahrenheit for near a month and with wind chills at -25 to -40 tonight, one just has to stay inside in the comfy cozy walls of home! Out comes the sewing machine and projects left behind from seasons past.  This time, I decided to tackle a new project that will be put to good use in the future: an Airplane Tray Table Cover for future traveling!  Thinking of sunny Ethiopia just brightens the mood from the winter blues too! After searching the web, and viewing images of other "airplane tray table covers" (search it, you'll find them), I decided to create my own.  This is pic is of my first attempt.  Overall, it turned out fine and I am happy with the end result.  To give you an idea, this would slip over the airplane tra

Details, Details, and What Can We Do?

It's a girl!  Thank you for the excitement and prayers of joy for us as we announced our next adoption! We have kept our finger on the pulse in the adoption world since bringing home our son, and all I can contribute finding out about this adoption is by the direction of God the Father.  He "places the lonely in families!" - Psalm 68:6  I know that everyone is anxious to know more details, trust me, I know it's part of the excitement to hear the scoop! What I can say is that she is 7 years old and very petite.  She has brown eyes, brown curly hair, and beautiful brown skin.  Her smile is contagious and her eyes show that she is spunky inside of that tiny frame.  She loves to laugh and eat pie! What I can't say is all of her story.  It's very complicated, emotionally complex, broken. And at her age of understanding all that is going on around her, well, it's her story and we want to respect that privacy for her.  While this is a time of joy and cele

Miserly Moms Recipes

After posting some ideas about tips for the family budget, I had many positive responses and am encouraged that many of you will be putting forth an effort to set a food budget and stay within that budget.  Take a visit here to view the previous post. Miserly Moms by Jonni McCoy is an excellent resource for money saving tips, menus, recipes, and family organization.  After looking it up on Amazon, apparently my copy is the "collectable" edition...oh geez, that makes me feel old.  There is a newer edition that Jonni has available in a Kindle version for $7.99 .  Note: Kindles weren't invented yet when I was starting out as a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom)  Ha.ha.laugh.   Here are some highlights from the book (the one made of paper) :   1. Don't Confuse Frugality with Depriving Yourself  2. Remove Little Wasters of Your Money 3. Don't Buy Everything at the Same Store 4. Make Your Own Whenever Possible 5. Eliminate Convenience Foods 6.
