165 Hours of Prayer Day 7

165 Hours of Prayer for the 165 Million Orphans World Wide:

New to the 165 Hour Prayer?  Start here, then come right back!

Day7:
Day 7 of prayer for the orphans! What a special time this has been for me in prayer with my Lord, in fellowship with friends, other adoptive parents, and experiencing the peace of the Lord hearing and answering our prayers for the children is overwhelmingly amazing!  I am certain that the Lord is at work in answering the requests of our cries that see fit to His will.

I am reminded of a time in Daniel's life where he was in deep prayer and fasting awaiting for an answer from the Lord.
Let's look at Daniel  10:3-8 "All that time I tasted neither wine no meat, and of course I went with out desserts.  I neither washed nor shaved nor combed my hair.  Then one day early in April, as I was standing beside the great Tigris River, I looked up and suddenly there before me stood a person robed in linen garments, with a belt of purest gold around his waist and glowing, lustrous skin!  From his face came blinding flashes like lightning, and his eyes were pools of fire; his arms and feet shone like polished brass, and his voice was like the roaring of a vast multitude of people.  I Daniel saw this great vision; the men with me saw nothing but they were suddenly filled with unreasoning terror and ran to hide, and I was left alone.  When I saw this frightening vision my strength left me, and I grew pale and weak with fright."

A couple of things to note:  1. The dedicated and intentional prayer time that Daniel was participating in.  2. The power of the spiritual being that appeared before Daniel was surely a greater power than a man's strength and power. He was sent by God.

Daniel 10:9 "Then he spoke to me, and I fell to the ground face downward in a deep faint. But then a  hand touched me and lifted me, still trembling, to my knees.  And I heard his voice - "Oh Daniel, greatly beloved by God," he said, "stand up and listen carefully to what I have to say to you, our God has sent me to you." So I stood up, still trembling with fear.

3. The  angel was sent purposefully to Daniel with a message to give only Daniel, for Daniel, and about Daniel's life. God heard Daniel's prayer and responds to him.

Verse 12, "Then he (angel) said, "Don't be frightened, Daniel, for your request has been heard in heaven and was answered the very first day you began to fast before the Lord and pray for understanding; that very day I was sent here to meet you.  But for twenty-one days the mighty Evil Spirit who overrules the kingdom of Persia blocked my way."

4.  The very day, the first day, Daniel began praying, the Lord heard his prayer, and answered his prayer by starting the plan into action. God heard your first prayer too!

Verse 12, "But for twenty--one days the mighty Evil Spirit who overrules the kingdom of Persia blocked my way.  Then Michael, one of the top officers of the heavenly army, came to help me, so that I was able to break through these spirit rulers of Persia.  Now I am here to tell you what will happen to your people, the Jews..."

5.  Did you read that?  It took an angel 21 days to get to Daniel and share the message sent by God.  The angel even had to call upon help of the powerful angel, Michael, in order to break through the spiritual warfare that surrounded Daniel.

In verse 19 the angel says to Daniel, "God loves you very much, don't be afraid! Calm yourself; be strong-yes, strong." .....20,21 "He replied, Do you know why I have come? I am here to tell you what is written in the book of the future.  Then, when I leave, I will go again to fight my way back,  past the prince of Persia; and after him, the prince of Greece.  Only Michael, the angel who guards your people Israel, will be there to help me. "

6.  God loves you very much! And he is asking us to trust in Him, not to be afraid, but to know with all certainties that the Lord is on our side. He hears our prayers and HE IS working on this!  There is a battle that belongs to the Lord and that is one of spiritual warfare.  Even the angel was held back, fought his way through, called on another angel for help, so that the plans of the Lord could be fulfilled.  Nothing is too hard for the Lord.
"For nothing will be impossible with God.” - Luke 1:37

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places."  Eph. 6:12

This is our last day of the 165 hour dedicated prayer time and fasting for the orphans and adoptive families.  There is no doubt that throughout this time we have seen immediate answers to our prayers in ways of court dates being assigned, a family received their referral for their little girls, the sick are being helped, parents hearts are being encouraged by the hope of the Lord and the peace that His gives. Some answers to our prayers are still 'in the works.'

Know truly that our prayers have been heard and that even now, the Lord is on our side.  His angels are fighting to set the Lords plans into place in our lives and the lives of the orphans.  It may take time, but know by faith, that God is at work and never resting.  There is an entire battle beyond what stirs up in our lives and hearts, it is a battle of spiritual forces.  Continue to trust, pray, and put on the armor of God, study the word of the Lord, the Bible, and we will rejoice to see His plan unfolding before us and the lives of the orphans.

"And that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hand." 1 Samuel 17:47

Scripture:
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil." Eph. 6:11

" He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, .". Psalm 91:1-16

"No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.” Isaiah 45:17
Prayer:
Praise: For the power of the Lord and the works He will bring to completion in the life of the orphans and the adoptive families!  For the truth of His promises to carried out! For pouring out His mercies! Praise that the Lord overcomes all evil and that He leads our battles!

Pray: Pray for protection from evil plans blocking the paths of the angels, but know that ultimately the Lord will prevail! Pray for adoptive families as they meet their new children. Pray for court dates and travel plans to be perfectly arranged and without flaw or delay.  Pray for the finances of adoptive families and that all funds are met for them.  Pray for the children as they enter their new homes and new lives.  Pray for their adjustments, trust, and past hurts to be healed by the love of Jesus.

Pray: Pray that as this time of dedicated prayer ends, that God's moving in your life will continue to stir and that your heart will continue to be open to the calling of the Spirit in what work He calls you to do, support, or be a part of.  Praise Him and count on His promises to be fulfilled!

Airplane Tray Table Cover for Travel!

In my part of the world, the popular sport of choice for this season is sewing.  Sewing?  Yes, well, it's a winter sport for me with its challenges, obstacles, and skills to be improved upon!  Not to mention that it hasn't been above 10 degrees Fahrenheit for near a month and with wind chills at -25 to -40 tonight, one just has to stay inside in the comfy cozy walls of home! Out comes the sewing machine and projects left behind from seasons past.  This time, I decided to tackle a new project that will be put to good use in the future: an Airplane Tray Table Cover for future traveling!  Thinking of sunny Ethiopia just brightens the mood from the winter blues too! After searching the web, and viewing images of other "airplane tray table covers" (search it, you'll find them), I decided to create my own.  This is pic is of my first attempt.  Overall, it turned out fine and I am happy with the end result.  To give you an idea, this would slip over the airplane tra

Details, Details, and What Can We Do?

It's a girl!  Thank you for the excitement and prayers of joy for us as we announced our next adoption! We have kept our finger on the pulse in the adoption world since bringing home our son, and all I can contribute finding out about this adoption is by the direction of God the Father.  He "places the lonely in families!" - Psalm 68:6  I know that everyone is anxious to know more details, trust me, I know it's part of the excitement to hear the scoop! What I can say is that she is 7 years old and very petite.  She has brown eyes, brown curly hair, and beautiful brown skin.  Her smile is contagious and her eyes show that she is spunky inside of that tiny frame.  She loves to laugh and eat pie! What I can't say is all of her story.  It's very complicated, emotionally complex, broken. And at her age of understanding all that is going on around her, well, it's her story and we want to respect that privacy for her.  While this is a time of joy and cele

Miserly Moms Recipes

After posting some ideas about tips for the family budget, I had many positive responses and am encouraged that many of you will be putting forth an effort to set a food budget and stay within that budget.  Take a visit here to view the previous post. Miserly Moms by Jonni McCoy is an excellent resource for money saving tips, menus, recipes, and family organization.  After looking it up on Amazon, apparently my copy is the "collectable" edition...oh geez, that makes me feel old.  There is a newer edition that Jonni has available in a Kindle version for $7.99 .  Note: Kindles weren't invented yet when I was starting out as a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom)  Ha.ha.laugh.   Here are some highlights from the book (the one made of paper) :   1.
