Week 26 After Referral NEWS FLASH

Here we are 26 weeks after being matched with this precious little somebody who we long to hug, hold, and get to know as our son!  Through much waiting, paperwork, and waiting some more, we are moving forward in little steps and for this, we celebrate!!  Praise God for guarding, guiding, and His forever faithfulness through this journey!  Thank you for lifting us up in prayer and for our little boy, Tarik, being fresh in your prayers!

Every Friday we get an update on Tarik with his height, weight, and 2 precious photos! Those little feet are getting bigger, more teeth, and those cheeks!  Awh, he is a cutie!!

So where are we now??

Finally, 5 months after we were matched with our little boy, we got the papers needed from Ethiopia that were required to send on to U.S. immigration office/ USCIS to review our case. This process ensures, by U.S. standards, that Tarik truly is an orphan, adoptable, and will be allowed entrance into the United States.  This process can take months.  Well, we were assigned an officer on Monday, January 12th and she reviewed the case on the 13th!  There is progress!  Thanking God!

How can you pray?

There was a request by our officer for another document to be submitted and here is the prayer request:  Our adoption agency will be working to obtain this document from Ethiopian officials.  There is a time limit that the U.S. puts on this request.  A time frame of up to 87 days/ April 10.  It could take one week to obtain, it could take until day 86.  Please be praying for this to move swiftly without snag and hold-ups that keep us separated even longer from joining with our little boy!

Please be praying for the Lord to clear the way and keep our paths straight!  We truly trust and know that all will happen in the perfect timing that our faithful and gracious Father holds for us!  Pray for Tarik, and that his eyes are prepared to first see us and that his heart will be tender to get to know us as his forever family! Continue to pray for his health and strength as we are grateful for continued good health!

We believe!
Luke 11:9 "And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you."

Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

THANK YOU for lifting our adoption up in prayer!  Prayer is a powerful gift! Thank you!

Happy Ethiopian New Year!

Today, September 11th, marks the changing to a new year for Ethiopia!  Celebrating as a new year starts fresh with new hope, ambitious plans, and changing of seasons from the end of the rainy season to a season of new growth.

Ethiopia follows a 13 month calendar and so it's actually the year 2007 in Ethiopia today! Enkutatash is the word for the Ethiopian new year in Amharic, the official language of Ethiopia. It has also been associated traditionally with the return of the Queen of Sheba to Ethiopia following her visit to King SolomonJerusalem in ca. 980 BC.Enkutatashmeans “gift of jewels.” The story goes back almost 3,000 years to the Queen of Sheba of ancient Ethiopia who was returning from a trip to visit King Solomon of Israel in Jerusalem, as found in the Bible in I Kings 10 and II Chronicles 9. She had gifted Solomon with 120 talents of gold (4.5 tons) as well as a large amount of unique spices and jewels.

1 Kings 10 says this:10 "When the queen of Sheba heard about …

Airplane Tray Table Cover for Travel!

In my part of the world, the popular sport of choice for this season is sewing.  Sewing?  Yes, well, it's a winter sport for me with its challenges, obstacles, and skills to be improved upon!  Not to mention that it hasn't been above 10 degrees Fahrenheit for near a month and with wind chills at -25 to -40 tonight, one just has to stay inside in the comfy cozy walls of home!

Out comes the sewing machine and projects left behind from seasons past.  This time, I decided to tackle a new project that will be put to good use in the future: an Airplane Tray Table Cover for future traveling!  Thinking of sunny Ethiopia just brightens the mood from the winter blues too!

After searching the web, and viewing images of other "airplane tray table covers" (search it, you'll find them), I decided to create my own.  This is pic is of my first attempt.  Overall, it turned out fine and I am happy with the end result.  To give you an idea, this would slip over the airplane tray…

Encourage One Another

In preparing for adoption, one area that needs attention in our family is that of our biological children and the changes they will encounter.  We are gearing them up for their new siblings including the joys and challenges that comes with a new addition to the family.  Just like when we bring a newborn sibling home from the hospital, there are changes in the family dynamics.  We expect this change when bringing home their new siblings from Ethiopia!  Some things that we have found to help our family adjust to a new baby is to be sure we are geared up in the area of teamwork!
The kids need to feel confident and secure in the fact that we are all here for each other, to encourage one another, to help each other, and to listen to each other when we need to talk, or just play with someone.  It's no secret that with a home schooling family of four kids, and more on the way, that mom isn't always available at the drop of a hat to serve iced tea on a silver platter.  We are build…
